Choosing Perfume
Posted by: admin In: Uncategorized
People like to look good and feel good, so it’s no real surprise that the market for women’s perfume and men’s cologne is so massive. According to an article in the Daily Mail in 2008 women would rather cut back on food to pay for pricey cosmetics and beauty products.
Huge industries have grown from this look good feel good factor, with many cosmetics and branded perfumes commanding tip top prices. In fact the perfume industry is worth a staggering £16 billion pounds a year.
Perfumes are of course a very personal matter and what may appeals to one person will not appeal to another, in many cases this is because everyone’s body chemistry is different.
The concentration of essential oils reflects the intensity and longevity of a parfum, as the percentage of essential oils increases so does the intensity and longevity of the scent.
The perfume family consists of Chypre, Citrus, Floral, Florental, Fougre,Fruity, Oriental and Woody. So you favourite perfume will fall into one of these categories.
The stongest fragrance is in parfum with a concentration of between 15%-40%, eau de parfum between 10%-20% and eau de toilette between 5%15%. Many people when faced with high street prices choose the eau de Toilette as this is the cheaper end of the market, of course the scent is not so stong as does not last as long.
When trying a new perfume you should place the fragrance on your pulse points, inside wrists, back of kness, behind ears. Test the perfume on yourself not on your friend as perfumes will smell diferently on different people.
