I witnessed a person on my office the other day chewing his nails in such a manner that I actually thought he was going to chew his finger off. Skin tags are soft growths that usually hang from the skin on a stalk, (a thin piece of tissue).  The good news is unlike moles skin tags do not turn into skin cancer. Anyone can get a skin tag; there is no way to prevent them. Some families have more of a tendency to them than others.
